State of the State Address to air Jan. 11

State of the State Address to air Jan. 11 South Dakota Gov. Bill Janklow kicks off the new legislative session with his State of the State Address, presented live at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, on South Dakota Public Television, SD Public Radio and SDPB Online at www.sdpb.org. SD Public Television will present a prime time encore of the address at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11.

Janklow, now in his fourth term as South Dakota governor, will look at the top state issues and outline plans for the coming year.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting is back in Pierre for comprehensive coverage of the 75th legislative session.

For the first time, SDPB offers gavel-to-gavel coverage on the web. SDPB's Online Services, at www.sdpb.org, in partnership with the Legislative Research Council, will provide live and archived gavel-to-gavel audio of House and Senate Chamber action and selected committee discussions.

South Dakota Public Radio will offer news reports throughout the day and detailed reports during the South Dakota Forum Newshour at noon weekdays. Occasionally, the South Dakota Forum Newshour's call-in-show, which airs after the news on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, will feature legislative topics.

SDPTV will air a 30-minute report after each day's session at 10:30 p.m. with a repeat the next weekday at 11 a.m. for viewers and for use by government classes statewide. Al Bahe of Pierre will be host for the program, along with SDPTV's Statehouse Producer Stephanie Rissler.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting's Educational Services also is gearing up to help teachers and students make the best of Statehouse. Teacher's guides have been prepared to enhance SDPB's coverage.
