The birds can be seen all along the Missouri River � in tall cottonwoods, not always in the highest branches of the tree, but where they watch the water from which their next meal may come. A good spot to watch for the big birds on any given day is around the tailwaters of Gavins Point Dam. The water doesn't freeze over there and provides good fishing opportunities for the birds.
