Two quilt classes offered at county Extension office

Two quilt classes offered at county Extension office Classes for beginning and intermediate quilters will be held at the Clay County Extension Office in February and March.

Both classes feature rotary cutter techniques and machine piecing, using instruction books from Quilt in a Day.

A free information session to meet the instructors, see sample quilts and learn more will be held Wednesday, Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. Students may register for either class at that time or by mail.

Mary Waller will teach the Log Cabin Quilt on Saturday, Feb. 12. The Log Cabin quilt is an easy, traditional design with many setting possibilities and is a great quilt project for beginners.

Both classes in February run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Students provide fabric, sewing machine and basic sewing supplies and select the size quilt they wish to make. Sewing machines are available for class use; please reserve one in advance. The $45 fee for either class includes lunch, and book if fee is paid by Jan. 22.

A second session for either quilt is scheduled for Saturday, March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to noon for students who want additional class time to complete their quilt tops or assemble their quilts. The fee for the March 11 session is $15.
