USD Alumni Association will receive Gold Award The USD Alumni Association has received notification that its limited edition commemorative Y2K wall calendar has received a Gold award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). Alumni Director Nancy McCahren accepted the award during the CASE conference in St. Louis Jan. 9-12.
The calendar features beautiful photography by Paul Schiller, of the Lawrence and Schiller advertising agency in Sioux Falls. The calendar also features an extensive collection of dates relating to USD history. Schiller received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism in 1969 from USD where he was a Volante photographer
According to McCahren, it is the intent that the calendar can be used during the coming year, but also preserved as documentation of what the USD campus looks like at the turn of the century.
"We are very proud of our campus which is one of the most beautiful places anywhere. The photographs by Paul Schiller capture the pride and spirit so representative of this campus, the oldest in South Dakota. This (CASE Gold Award) is a great honor," said McCahren.
Featured calendar photos include Old Main Tower, College of Arts and Sciences, Shrine to Music Museum, Warren M. Lee Center for the Fine Arts, Slagle Hall, Shakespeare Garden, Old Armory, East Hall, I.D. Weeks Library, DakotaDome and Old Main.
While supplies last, remaining calendars are available for $10. More information is available on the Alumni Association and Foundation WWW page at: http://www.usd.edu/foundation/misc/calendar.html.
