Crowley, Engstrom receive honor Patty Crowley and Tyler Engstrom became the newest VHS Student of the Month Award winners. These January honorees will receive a $100 scholarship from First National Bank in Vermillion for their leadership in school and in the community.
Crowley's school activities include Student Council, National Honor Society, Renaissance Board, cheerleading, choir, and VHS Teen Court Jury. Her community efforts include membership in 4-H, volunteering for Special Olympics, being an aide at St. Agnes School and serving as the student representative on the Celebrate Vermillion Committee.
Her parents are Mark and Kathy Crowley of Vermillion. Crowley plans to attend The University of South Dakota and major in elementary education.
Engstrom plans to parlay his interests in welding and blacksmithing into an eventual career. His intentions are to acquire a metallurgical engineering major at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
His activities are band, track, National Honor Society, and Boy Scouts. This past summer he earned his Eagle Scout award. Engstrom's parents are Royce and Mary Engstrom.
