Flandreau can't stop Vermillion Tanager JV by Jim Prosser The Vermillion JV Tanagers downed the Flandreau Indian School Indians 48-39 in boys basketball Feb. 19 at Vermillion in a game where the Tanagers held the Indians to only 9 field goals.
Nick Olson scored 19 points.
�They didn't have anybody who could stop Nick,� said VHS Coach Lance Luitjens.
The Tanagers led 13-7 after the opening period, led 24-15 at halftime, and then held a lead of 34-26 going into the final period.
The Tanagers committed only 7 turnovers in the victory.
�I thought we adjusted well to a different style of basketball and just played our game,� said Coach Luitjens.
VHS improved its record to 9-8, while Flandreau dropped to 6-6.
VHS sank 2 of 6 three-point tries and made 12 of 14 free throw tries. The Tanagers connected on 15 of 36 field goals.
