Spring hasn't officially arrived in Vermillion yet, but it would be hard to deny that fact Tuesday. Temperatures hovered in the 60-degree range for much of the afternoon, prompting Paul Hammond and Taylor Hotz to engage in a spirited game of one-on-one at the Prentis Park basketball court after their fifth-grade classes dismissed for the day. Prentis Park turned out to be a popular place for people of all ages Tuesday afternoon, who beat the winter blues by shooting hoops, playing frisbee golf, or simply by taking a walk in the fresh air. The mild weather was replaced Wednesday by steady showers, another welcome gift from Mother Nature.
