TRIO program will host open house February 24 The University of South Dakota will celebrate National TRIO Day by hosting an open house from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Lincoln-Roosevelt Rooms of USD's Coyote Student Center on Thursday, Feb. 24. National TRIO Day is recognized on Feb. 26.
The special day will focus on the accomplishments of TRIO programs as well as the needs of the eligible young people and adults aspiring to improve their lives. The TRIO programs at USD include Talent Search Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math/Science Initiative and Student Support Services. These programs assist low-income and first generation students to overcome class, social and cultural barriers to successfully complete education.
"This is an opportunity for the program at USD to celebrate the importance of TRIO programs and acknowledge the cooperation from the campus community. Many South Dakota students as well as those across the region benefit from the programs," said Colleen Clifford of the TRIO programs at USD.
