USD sweeps Jackrabbits in dual swimming meet The South Dakota men's and women's swimming and diving teams posted a North Central Conference dual sweep over South Dakota State Friday in Brookings.
The USD women recorded a 109-55 win, and the Coyote men defeated the Jackrabbits, 116.5-91.5.
Leading the USD women were Sara Pokela, Sara Hamlet, Robyn Chrissinger and Sanami Fottral. Pokela won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.38) and she teamed with Fottral, Tiffany Lillie and Angie Anderson for first in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.15).
Hamlet won the 200 IM (2:21.43) and she joined forces with Chrissinger, Pokela and Tracy Magnuson for top honors in the 400 freestyle relay (3:51.35). Fottral took the 1000 freestyle (11:22.77) and Chrissinger was first in the 200 freestyle (2:00.70). Jenny Grooters was USD's other winner in the 500 freestyle (5:32.33).
Sparking the USD men were Greg Perzinski and Evan Plumley. Perzinski teamed with Sam Schimelpfenig, Dakota Tefertiller and Chad Gohman for first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:50.35), and he won the 200 IM (2:04.56). Plumley won the one-meter (243.30) and three-meter (221.62) diving boards.
Also winning for the Coyotes were: David Nelson, 100 butterfly (57.67); Torey Melton, 100 freestyle (51.75); and Justin Devlin, 100 breaststroke (1:00.33).
