USD women fall to NDSU, UND

USD women fall to NDSU, UND South Dakota fell behind, 44-17, at halftime en route to an 85-57 loss to three-time defending national champion North Dakota last Saturday. USD lost to NCC leader North Dakota State Friday, 87-60.

The Coyotes, who are 10-12 overall and 3-10 in the NCC, travel to Morningside this Saturday, followed by road games at Minnesota State-Mankato and St. Cloud State February 25-26.

North Dakota held the Coyotes to 30.2 shooting, including 13.8 in the first half. Meanwhile, North Dakota shot 47.4 and the Sioux out-rebounded USD, 45-36. USD had two players in double scoring figures with Julia Frie leading the way with 16 points and Heather Nelson had 10 points. Nelson and Kelly Koepp paced the Coyotes in rebounds with seven apiece.

Against North Dakota State, the Coyotes shot 31.7 percent and USD was out-rebounded, 49-35. Leading USD in scoring was Nicole Jaycox with 15 points, followed by Frie with 13 and 11 for Amanda Iverson. Alissa Koronkiewicz was tops in rebounds with seven. Nelson had 8 points, three assists and three blocked shots. NDSU shot 44.8 percent for the game.
