VHS freshmen fall to the Yankton Bucks by Jim Prosser The VHS freshmen Tanagers were shot down by the Yankton freshmen Bucks 58-39 in boys basketball Jan. 27 at Vermillion.
�Yankton has some good athletes,� said Vermillion Coach Jason Huska. �We played a good second half, with better defense and better execution on offense.�
The Tanagers fell behind 16-6 after the first quarter, trailed 33-18 at halftime, and then trailed 44-22 going into the final period.
The loss dropped Vermillion to a record of 1-7, while Yankton improved to 7-1.
Vermillion hit 0 of 3 three-point tries and sank 5 of 9 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 17 of 31 from the field, while Yankton was 24 of 46 from the field. Yankton connected on 0 of 3 three-point tries and sank 10 of 12 free throw attempts.
Vermillion was out-rebounded 34-22.
