Wish comes true for Dexter Johnson On Thursday, Feb. 17, a wish came true for 9-year old Dexter Johnson from Vermillion. He and his family traveled to Daytona Beach, FL to attend the Daytona 500. Dexter has been diagnosed with Ependymoma (brain tumor).
During their visit to the Daytona 500, they attended several practice and qualifying races, toured the garage and viewed the many sights of Daytona week. On Sunday, Feb. 20, Dexter and his family were in the grandstands viewing Daytona 500 race.
Dexter's wish is sponsored by the Make-A-Wish Foundation¨ of South Dakota. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children with life threatening illness.
