Edelen places second in tourney Jarrod Edelen, a lifelong resident of Vermillion, 1998 graduate of Vermillion High School and currently a sophomore at The University of South Dakota, played in his second Four Wall Brawl racquetball tournament in Sioux City, IA this past weekend.
In the opening match he defeated Debbie Bennet of Sioux City, IA in the Men's D Single bracket. In the next round he defeated Bob Lee, also of Sioux City. In the third round he defeated Bahskar of South Sioux City, NE, and in the finals he was defeated by Jim Wittrock of Carroll, IA in a hard-fought match.
He also played in the B/C Doubles bracket with his dad, Joe. In the first round they defeated Larry Fillippi of Anthon, IA and Janelle Dickman of Sioux City. In the second round they defeated Dan Fleming and Tafi Lorinser, both of Sioux City. In the semi-final round they were defeated by Duane Kramer and Gary Niederl of Humboldt, IA.
Joe also played in the Men's A Doubles with Tim Cowman, Vermillion. They defeated Gerry Bennett and Mick Lower, both of Sioux City in the first round and were beaten by Tim Coles and Nick Langel of Sioux City in the second round.
Jarrod is currently a member of the USD Coyote Football team and while at VHS he ran track, wrestled, played basketball, baseball, soccer and won honors as a member of the Tanager football team as a running back and a kicker.
