Parkston's hot shooting too much for Vermillion by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers lost to the Parkston High School Trojans 59-46 in boys basketball Feb. 22 at Parkston as the winners held the lead after each quarter.
Parkston�s Jeff Heisinger had four 3-pointers and a game high 20 points.
The Tanagers fell behind 14-6 after the first quarter, trailed 29-19 after the second period, and then trailed 42-32 after the third quarter.
�Our ?match up zone� worked somewhat but Parkston�s shooters pumped in 5 first half 3-pointers and we had to foul late in the game,� said VHS Coach Troy Terronez. �We couldn�t make up the early deficit.�
The loss dropped VHS to a record of 3-16, while Parkston improved to 5-13.
VHS connected on 2 of 6 three-pointers and sank 6 of 10 from the line. The Tanagers connected on 11 of 30 field goal attempts, while Parkston was 12 of 25 from the field. Parkston made 4 of 7 three-point attempts and sank 2 of 5 free throw tries.
