Senator Visits Vermillion Senator Tom Daschle (center) was in Vermillion recently to meet with several University of South Dakota education students who are currently doing student teaching at area schools. Senator Tom Daschle (center) was in Vermillion recently to meet with several University of South Dakota education students who are currently doing student teaching at area schools. Daschle discussed how South Dakota can better recruit and retain top-notch teachers to address a predicted teacher shortage, especially in the math and science areas. The meeting, organized by Don Monroe of the USD School of Education, took place at the Cherry Street Grille on Saturday, March 4.
