USD sets school marks at Willie Williams track meet South Dakota competed in the Willie Williams Division I Track & Field Invitational last Saturday in Tucson, AZ.
The Coyotes came away with a couple of school records.
Senior Steve Schmidt placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 55-2 3/4 and it broke the USD school record of 53-4 1/4 set by Larry Hoeflot back in 1959 � the oldest existing outdoor record in the books.
In addition, junior Andrew Neugebauer took first-place in the 800 with a clocking of 1:49.80 � breaking the school record of 1:50.10 set by Mike Martin in 1983. Schmidt and Neugebauer both met national provisional qualifying marks for the outdoor national meet.
In other results for the Coyotes, Tom Green was eighth in the 200 (21.92) and eighth in the 100 (10.84). John Kehoe finished ninth in the 400 (48.54).
