USD’s Dave Boots named District Coach of the Year

USD's Dave Boots named District Coach of the Year Dave Boots, the head men's basketball coach at The University of South Dakota, has been named the NABC-Oldsmobile North Central District Coach of the Year.

Boots and the rest of the district coach winners will be recognized at the NABC-GTE College Basketball Awards Show to be held Sunday, April 2 at the Murat Theater in Indianapolis, IN during the Final Four.

Boots, the all-time winningest coach in USD history with a record of 249-100 for a .713 winning percentage, directed the Coyotes to 22-6 record this season and a berth in the North Central Region Tournament. South Dakota won the North Central Conference championship with a 13-5 record � the program's fourth conference crown during Boots' tenure at USD.

Boots, who was named the North Central Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth time and District Coach of the Year for the third time, has directed the Coyotes to 12 consecutive winning seasons and eight 20-win campaigns. Along the way, USD advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight Tournament in 1993 and 1994.
