VHS concert choirs plan unique concert The Vermillion High School concert choirs have planned a concert for March 13 that will have a unique format.
The doors of the VHS gymnasium will open at 6:30 p.m. People arriving at that time will be able to grab a small dessert or watch an open rehearsal of the swing choir.
At 7 p.m., visitors are invited to take a hall walk and be entertained by singers as they sign up for a cake walk or browse a silent auction and book sale at the school library.
At 7:30 p.m., the warm-up and countdown will begin for the formal concert. Music that will be performed that evening includes Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy by the ninth-grade girls, works by Beethoven, Brahms and Peter Williams by the concert choirs and songs by Lennon and McCartney by the swing choir.
Admission to the concert is free and the public is invited. Accompanists for the evening will be Carman Howard, Jan Ireland and Jason Dobney, USD student teacher. Jeanne Dahlin is choral director.
