AAL branch honored for community service Aid Association for Lutherans (AAL) Branch #5230, Volin, has been awarded a Gold Star rating in recognition of outstanding community service.
The branch is led by Linda Jorgenson, president, Meckling; Lois Steenhoven, recorder, Butch Steenhoven, treasurer, Volin; Marlys Jensen, coordinator, Meckling.
The branch is supported by AAL representative Loren Hanson, Vermillion.
To achieve a Gold Star rating, a branch must conduct regular business meetings, an election and a planning meeting, and sponsor at least one benevolent, one educational and one branch member welcome event and three additional activities in any combination. It also must submit an annual financial report and achieve an average of one volunteer hour per benefit member in the branch.
AAL, based in Appleton, WI, is a fraternal benefit society of 1.7 million members who are joined together for insurance, educational and volunteer opportunities. AAL has more than 10,200 branches.
