American Rivers rep to discuss protecting the Missouri River "Voyage of Recovery: Restoring and Protecting the Missouri River" will be presented by Chad Smith of American Rivers on Tuesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the W.H. Over Museum.
The presentation is sponsored by the Living River Group of the Sierra Club.
At the February meeting of the Living River Group of the Sierra Club, Roy McAllister of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers discussed the Missouri River Master Manual. The manual is the guide the corps uses to set releases from the six Missouri River dams.
American Rivers contends that the corps continues to manage the river primarily for barge traffic, ignoring recreation and wildlife. Smith will explain why American Rivers has sued the corps and what to expect next.
