Around the Town By Emma Drissen Hello April! The Chamber/VDC Banquet is coming up soon. The event will take place Thursday, April 6 at the Coyote Student Center. Social hour, hosted by USD President Jim and Colette Abbott, begins at 6 p.m. at Charlie's West. Dinner is at 7 p.m. in the Rushmore Rooms.
Our guest speaker this year is James Kunstler, author of The Geography to Nowhere and Home from Nowhere. Kunstler has lectured all over the country and believes "a lot of people share my feelings about the tragic landscape of highway strips, parking lots, housing tracts, mega-malls, junked cities and ravaged countryside that make up the everyday environment where most Americans live and work."
This promises to be a very informative and entertaining evening. Please make your reservations by calling the Chamber/VDC office at 624-5571 or 624-5572. Seating is limited.
With the warm weather arriving, remember to visit Vermillion's fine museums and other local places of interest. Be a tourist in your hometown. There's a lot to be enjoyed in our own backyard!
Have a terrific week.
