Girls' golf team splits wins at Sioux City West The VHS girls' golf teams � varsity and JV � played Sioux City West at two Sioux City courses on Thursday, April 6.
The varsity played at Green Valley while the JV team was located at Floyd Park. The conditions were favorable for decent scoring and the Tanager varsity team had a victory, led by Allison Stewart and Karrie Plate with duplicate scores of 48, followed closely by Kelly Peterson and Brooke Nelson scoring 49 and 51 respectively.
The other varsity golfers competing were Tabitha Hubert and Terri Upward.
The final results were VHS 196 to Sioux City West's 210.
On the JV side, Tera Dehner had the low score (44) at Floyd Park but the Sioux City West

JV team squeaked by with a 216-218 win over the young Tanagers.
The remaining individual scores were: Sarah Christopherson 57, Kaylee Heesch 58, and Nichole Veitz 59. Also representing the JV were Tyra Upward and Ashley Thompson.
Besides the above identified team members, the following roster represents the rest of the girls golfers participating for VHS this year:
Ashley Bjorkman, Alison Obr, Jackie Thomas, Drew VanClay and Megan Dehner.
Coach Kirk Hogen evaluated the coming season, noting the team's strength.
"The strength is obviously in our letter winners," he said. "We have, for the first time, some depth with golfers having some tournament experience. We also have a strong group of new 'athletic' golfers."
