Girls' track team claims another first The Tanager girls' track team scored 128 points to win the 2000 Huskies Invitational last Tuesday, April 5 at Elk Point.
Sarah Mollet again placed first in the shot put with a toss of 37' 6.5" and Nicole Pederson scored a double win, placing first in both the long jump and triple jump with distances of 15' 9" and 34' 3.5", respectively.
"We were very pleased with the efforts by all the jumpers, and Sarah continues to throw the shot put with consistency," said Coach Jim McGuire. "I was very happy with the relay teams' performances."
Jaclyn Powell and Annie Carlson were second and fifth respectively in the triple jump. The other field event found the two Tanagers placing in the high jump � Powell first and Carlson fifth.
Salina Dunkeson placed third in the 100M hurdles and in the 300M hurdles; and Elly Kjose was first in the 100M dash. In the 800M run, Michelle Rasmussen ran second; and the 1600M run had Kathy Plate in second place while Natalie Tuetken ran the 3200M run in 14:03.01 to claim third place.
In the relays, second place was scored in the 1600M with members Tessa Tuetken, Michelle Rasmussen, Kelly Peterson and Beth Pier, and the medley with Jackie Powell, Meggie Donnelly, Kelly Peterson and Pier. The 800M relay placed fourth, (Kjose, Jenna Gilkyson, Carly Bernard and Tuetken) and the 400M relay was second, (Gilkyson, Bernard, Pederson and Kjose).
There were nine schools represented at the meet.
