Neufeld earns swimming honor at Grinnell College Jeremy Neufeld, a 1998 graduate of Vermillion High School, earned a varsity letter in swimming from Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA, this spring.
The race for the Midwest Conference men's swimming title was a close one. The pre-season coaches' poll had Lawrence, Lake Forest and Grinnell College vying for the championship. Lawrence emerged at the top scoring 793, while Grinnell was only 44 points back finishing with 749. Lake Forest was third with 626.50. In a distant fourth was Knox (275), followed by Carroll (263.50), Ripon (229) and Beloit (149).
"Our men did extremely well. Last year we finished 200 points out of first place and 100 points out of second," said Coach Erin Hurley. "Some teams have a few great swimmers and nobody to earn the secondary points. We have a lot of quality in the middle which earns us a greater number of points."
A two-year letter winner, Neufeld placed seventh in the 200 breaststroke, ninth in the mile and 10th in the 400 IM.
Neufeld, the son of Dan Neufeld and Juliet Pattison, is an undecided major.
Grinnell is ranked among the top 15 liberal arts colleges in the nation. It draws students from 48 stats and 48 countries.
