USD softball team 1-3 at UNO tournament The South Dakota softball team, which posted a 1-3 record at the Nebraska-Omaha Tournament Saturday and Sunday, traveled to Nebraska-Omaha Tuesday for a doubleheader with the Mavericks.
The Coyotes, who are 17-17 on the season, host North Dakota Friday.
In first-round action Saturday at the UNO Tournament, the Coyotes lost to Southwest State in the opener, 5-0. USD then defeated Minnesota-Duluth, 3-0, before falling to Washburn, 4-0. In single-elimination action Sunday, the Coyotes lost to South Dakota State, 6-5.
In the win over Minnesota Duluth, the Coyotes had six hits led by Michelle Carpenter's two singles. Tiffany Davis had a two-run triple.
Last Friday in Vermillion, the Coyotes dropped a doubleheader to North Dakota State by the scores of 9-1 and 8-0. Both games went five innings. USD had two hits in the first game and one hit in the second game.
