As part of the planning process, input from constituents is vital. The agencies want to know the challenges facing local communities, in order for the Arts Council's services to reflect the community's needs. Topics to be discussed are support for artists, arts in education, support for local arts organizations, public awareness campaigns, developing alternative fundraising strategies, technology assistance, and others. All South Dakotans are invited to participate in the forum to express their thoughts and concerns regarding arts in he community.
Individual meetings planned
As a way to reach constituents, the South Dakota Arts Council staff members will be available throughout the state to meet individually with South Dakotans. The meetings give individuals that have questions about any SDAC program a chance to meet with a staff member and discuss these issues.
"These individual appointments are a way for the State Arts Council staff to provide grant writing assistance to constituents," said Dennis Holub, Arts Council director.
