VHS boys' track team improves The Tanager boys' track team placed second at the 2000 Huskies Invitational last Tuesday, April 4 at Elk Point.
Elk Point-Jefferson claimed first with 112 points and Vermillion had 97. There were nine schools represented at the meet.
Field events results for Vermillion were:
Discus � first, Tim Broderson; (a meet record toss of 153 feet); third, Tim Russell; fifth, Brandon Benzel.
Shot Put � second, Anthony Senne; fourth, Dave Jensen.
Long jump � second, Todd Anderson.
Triple jump � first, Anderson.
"Todd Anderson continues to impress with his jumping performances," said Coach Dan Bergland.
Eddie Filipovic placed second in the 100M dash and Seth Nesselhuf placed sixth in the 300M hurdles. Eric Dehner won the 800 M run in 2:08.21, placed second in the 1600M with a time of 4:41.34. Coach Bergland felt the "double" in the distances was quite a feat. John Ring came in fifth in the 3200M run.
In the relays, the 400M had a first place finish by the team of Tyler Vacek, Madsen, Dan Tolsma, and Eddie Filipovic.
"It's the first time for this foursome in this event and they really looked good!" said the coach.
Third place was claimed in the 3200M relay by Daryl Neufeld, Bart Miller, Josh Kyte and Jordan Thompson and in the 1600M relay the team of Vasek, Miller, Mike Buckanaga, and Tolsma placed fifth and the Medley team of Eric Rasmussen, Dave Hanson, Leif Nygaard and Leland Smith were fifth in their relay.
