VMS boys’ team places second in home triangular

VMS boys' team places second in home triangular The seventh- and eighth-grade Triangular Track Meet involving Vermillion, Yankton and Bon Homme on Monday, April 17 in Vermillion placed the Redbirds second in both grades.

Final standings were:

Seventh-grade: Yankton 72, Vermillion 46, BonHomme 24.

The placers for the seventh-grade boys were:

Long jump � Kyle Mollet first, Kenny Mays second, and Shawn Peterson fourth; the 110M hurdles event was won by Ben Oberle 19.9 seconds, with Chris Teigen and Sean Pederson placing second and third; Dashes � 100M � Mollet fourth; 400M � Chad Teigen fourth; 800M run � Jon Miller first at 2:37.3 minutes, Matt Prezler second; 1600M run � Jon Miller second.

The 4×100 relay team placed second with members Oberle, Ryan Mockler, Teigen and Pederson, as did the 4×200 relay team of Anderson, Oberle, Mockler and Mollet, and the medley relay team of Tony Belik, Charles Odson, Junior Simon and Mike Diebert. The 4x400M relay was won by the team of Kenny Mays, Teigen, Oberlie and Matt Prezler in 4:50 minutes.

The eighth-grade standings were: Yankton � 90, Vermillion � 38, BonHomme � 14.

VMS eighth-grade placers were:

Field events: Shot Put � Kellen Cusick first 44'4"; Discus � Cusick first 115'6", Max Swanson fourth; Long jump � Jared Burcham second; High jump � Tyler Brown fourth.

In the dashes: 100M � Burcham first, Mike Clark third, BJ Campbell fourth; 200M � Clark fourth; 400M � Paul Hugo second, Mitch Bierle fourth; 800M run � Tyler Brown first, 2:25.7 minutes.

The 4x200M relay team placed second � Campbell, Cusick, Clark and Burcham, and the medley relay team (Brian Varns, Jeremy Yankton, Cusick and Max Swanson) was second, also.
