VMS girls open season at Elk Point Triangular A bright sunny day was an appreciated change for the Elk Point-Jefferson Junior High Triangular involving Beresford, Vermillion and home school Elk Point on Thursday, April 13.
The seventh- and eighth-grade girls' track teams scored impressive victories � Seventh grade: Vermillion 65, Beresford 49, Elk Point-Jefferson 27; and 8th grade � Vermillion 91, Elk Point-Jefferson 24, Beresford 17.
The placers for the seventhgrade girls were:
Field events � Shot Put � Ali Christensen third, Sandi Winkler fourth; Long Jump � Anne Carlson first, Brittany Weydert second, Melissa Olson fourth; High Jump � Carlson first.
In the dashes: 100M � Kelsie Austin second, Sandi Winkler third; 200M �Austin first,Olson fourth; 400M � Morgan Brooks first, Mara Johnson second, Dendinger third. 100M hurdles � Carlson first. Distance runs � 800M � Jaime Bernard second, Weydert fourth; 1600M � Amber Kitto first, Sarah Plate fourth.
The 4×200 relay team placed second with members Erin Austin, Amber Kitto, Ali Chris-
tensen and Brittany Weydert. First place went to the 4×100 relay team of Sandi Winkler, Erin Austin, Ali Christensen and Kelsie Austin, while the 4x400M relay team of Jaime Bernard, Alisha O'Connor, Sarah Plate and Morgan Brooks and the Medley relay team of Anne Carlson, Brittany Weydert, Jaime Bernard and Mara Johnson came in with second places.
The eighth-graders had first place in all but three events.

In the dashes: 100M � Nicki Nelson first, Brooke Johnson third, Bliss third; 200M � Nelson first , Joy fourth; 400M � Heine first Mollet second, Kristen Kitto third; 100M high hurdles � Joy third, Redlin fourth; 800M run � Brittany Gilkyson first, Hofer second, Ring fourth; 1600M run � Ring first.
The 4×100 relay team placed second with runners Hofer, Bliss, Redlin, and Joy. The other relay teams won their event: 4x20M � Johnson, Heine, Mollet and Nelson); 4x400M � Heine, Kitto, Gilkyson and Mollet); Medley � Johnson, Bliss, Mollet, and Gilkyson.
