Championship rodeo coming to Vermillion by M. Jill Karolevitz A National Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeo will bring an anticipated 400 cowboys and cowgirls to Vermillion June 2-3.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. each night at the Clay County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 day of show for adults, and $4 in advance, $5 day of show for children ages 4-12. Advance tickets are available at Pump �n Pak.
Mosbrucker Rodeos of Mandan, ND, will bring their award-winning stock for the rodeo which features bareback riding, calf roping, breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, team roping and bull riding.
Rodeo clown Ryan Rodriguez of Clayton, MI, and bullfighter Denny Lottman will be on hand, as will announcer Billy Don Cash. All are world champions in the rodeo profession.
Wally Mosbrucker, promoter of the rodeo, is confident the two-day event will provide plenty of entertainment for the audience.
�We have a good line-up of talent coming � the audience will see a show unlike anything they�ve ever seen before,� Mosbrucker said. �And we�re proud of our stock, which includes three-time NPRA Bareback Horse of the Year, Indian Paint, and progeny of our stud Moonstruck, a 10-time NPRA Saddle Bronc of the Year.�
Mosbrucker added that he hopes to make the Vermillion rodeo an annual event.
�We�re always looking for new places to go into and we know Vermillion is a good town for rodeo,� he said.
Concessions at the rodeo will be provided by Pepsi-Cola of Siouxland and Texas Bar-B-Que. There will also be dances both nights at the Charcoal Lounge in downtown Vermillion.
NPRA, based in North Dakota, is co-sanctioning the rodeo with the Mid-States Rodeo Association of Nebraska.
