Crowley awarded scholarship The South Dakota Board of Regents awarded the 2000-2001 Annis Irene Fowler-Kaden Scholarship to two South Dakota high school students. The recipients � Patricia Crowley and Stacey Yost � will each receive a $1,000 award.
Crowley is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Crowley of Vermillion. A senior at Vermillion High School, she is ranked number one in her class and has earned a 4.0 grade point average. She plans to attend The University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Stacey Yost is the daughter of Charles and Kathy Yost of Ree Heights. A senior at Miller High School, she is also ranked number one in her class and carries a 4.0 grade point average. She plans to attend Black Hills State University in Spearfish.
The Annis Irene Fowler-Kaden Scholarship is available to high school seniors planning to major in elementary education at a South Dakota public university. The scholarship was established in 1989 by the family of Annis Irene Fowler-Kaden to recognize and continue Annis' dedication to education. Born in Grant County to a family of English immigrants. Annis Fowler began a teaching career in 1927 that spanned nearly 50 years. She obtained her B.A. from Northern Normal School and eventually specialized in teaching young students with various learning disabilities.
