Leber named captain of Kansas State football team

Leber named captain of Kansas State football team Former Vermillion High School football player Ben Leber has been named as a captain of the 2000 Kansas State football team. Leber, who will be a junior next fall, was one of five captains selected by his teammates at the conclusion of the spring practice sessions. Earlier this winter, he was also selected to be a player representative for the team.

Leber graduated from Vermillion High School in 1997 where he was selected to the All-State Football Team, the Argus Leader Elite 45 Football Team, and was a Parade Magazine All-American selection.

Leber was the starting middle linebacker in all 11 games for Kansas State last fall. During the upcoming 2000 season, Leber has switched positions and will start the season as the strong-side linebacker. Kansas State opens its season on Aug. 26 against the University of Iowa. The game will be played in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
