Schaack named president of First National Bank

Schaack named president of First National Bank The First National Bank in Vermillion Community Advisory Board has announced the promotion of Tom Schaack to the position of president at the Vermillion bank.

"Tom's promotion to the position of president represents our appreciation of Tom's efforts and is an acknowledgement of the high level of confidence we have in him," said Wayne Fischer, chairman of the advisory board. "In addition, designating Tom as president also extends our business philosophy of increased local control and decision making. Our vision for the bank is to be the hometown, community bank where Vermillion area residents are able to conduct all their banking business."

Schaack is a native of Watertown and holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Northern State University. He has been on staff at First National Bank since November of 1996 and brings many years of banking-related experience to this position.

In addition to his bank involvement, Schaack is an active member of the Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce Board, the Vermillion Development Company Board, the Vermillion Lions Club, Concordia Lutheran Church, The Bluffs Golf Club, and numerous school and recreation activities. Schaack and his wife, Peggy, have three sons: Rob, age 15; Brad, age 13; and Alex, age 10.

"The Vermillion area will certainly benefit from the new levels of autonomy that come with this position. I am very thankful that the Fishback family, our community board, and bank management have provided this opportunity to us," Schaack said.

The Vermillion bank is a division of the Fishback Financial Corporation, a banking organization with assets approaching $650 million. The bank offers a wide array of modern financial products and services including Internet banking, trust and investment services, and club accounts for seniors as well as children.

In addition to Schaack, the advisory board members include DeVee Dykstra, Jan Uhl, Robert Wood, Fern Kaufman, Gene Iverson, Tom French and Wayne Fischer.
