Sophomores shine at Quarterback Relays There were seven schools represented at the Yankton High School 2000 Quarterback Relays last Thursday, April 27: Brandon Valley, Dakota Valley, Lennox, Madison, O'Gorman, Vermillion and Yankton.

No team points were recorded but there were a couple of bright spots in the sophomore division as Bart Miller won the 800M run in a time of 2:18.0, and Thad Roche came in first in the 200M dash (24.8), Mike Buckanaga was third, and Eric Rasmussen finished fifth. Roche also placed in the 100M dash (third).

The sophomore medley relay team was second by 1.4 seconds with members Dave Hanson, Eric Rasmussen, Mike Buckanaga and John Brooks; and the 4x400M relay team placed third (Mike Buckanaga, Jeff Brevik, Bart Miller, and Cory Beach).

The varsity scored in nine events with Tim Broderson leading the contingent with a first place in the discus with a toss of 163' 11" and Tim Russell placed fourth. Anthony Senne was fifth in the shot put, and Todd Anderson placed fifth in the triple jump.

In the dashes, Eddie Filipovic was fourth in both the 100M and 200M, and Mike Veitz placed fifth in the 400M. Jordan Thompson finished fourth in the 800M run. In the 1600M run, Eric Dehner was third and John Ring placed fifth.

The 4x100M relay team finished second (Tyler Vacek, Jason Madsen, Dan Tolsma and Filipovic) and the medley team was also second (Vacek, Tolsma, Adam Brooks and Dehner).
