Tennis team topped again at home against Yankton The Tanager boys' tennis team keeps trying and learning but still couldn't overcome the dominating Yankton Bucks on their third effort this season as they were defeated handily in nearly every match at the VHS courts last Thursday, May 4.

Team scores: Yankton 9, Vermillion 0.

Singles: Ryan Elwood (Y) def. Ed Rudolph 6-1, 6-2; Conan Malady (Y) def. Jon Spader 6-0, 6-1; Jeff Meyer (Y) def. Dan Ring 6-1, 6-0; Kevin Meyer (Y) def. Jason Holoch 6-2, 6-0; Dan Carey (Y) def. Chris Yutrzenka 6-0, 6-1; Brett Sanders (Y) def. Anders Fremstad 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles: Elwood/Malady (Y) def. Spader/Rudolph 6-0, 6-2; J. Meyer/Carey (Y) def. Ring/Holoch 6-3, 6-0; K. Meyer/Shane Blum (Y) def. Fremstad/Yutrzenka 6-3, 6-1.

Exhibition Doubles: Ben Scholtz/Sanders (Y) def. Geng Wang/Ani Seferi 10-4.

"Yankton has a great team," said Tanager Coach Chris Hovden. "If we expect to compete with teams of their caliber, we will have to raise our level of play higher than we have so far."
