VHS boys' track team places fourth The Tanager boys track team took fourth with 108 points behind Dakota Valley at 168, Lennox at 131.5 and Elk Point-Jefferson at 114.5 in the Region 4A track meet last Friday, May 19.
Among the eight schools entered, the remaining finishes were, in this order: Harrisburg, 83.5, fifth; Canton, 60.5, sixth; Beresford, 34, seventh; and Alcester-Hudson, 22, eighth.
Due to weather conditions, the meet had been rescheduled from Thursday. State qualifiers were determined by the first two places in every event. Also, any member who met the state standard in any event during the entire track season is qualified.
Field events results for Vermillion were:
Discus � Tim Broderson, first with a toss of 159'4", and Tim Russell, third; Shot put � Anthony Senne, third; Long jump � Todd Anderson, fifth; Triple jump � Anderson, third.
Derrick Brown placed third in the 100M dash. In the 300M hurdles Michael Buckanaga came in fifth.
In the 800M run, Bart Miller was fourth and Jordan Thompson finished fifth. Darryl Neufeld placed fourth in the 1600M run, while John Ring came in second in the 3200M.
In the relays, the 4x100M had a fourth place finish with the team of Brown,Tyler Vacek, Cory Beach and Buckanaga. The 4x200M relay team placed third (Vacek, Madsen, Tolsma and Eddie Filipovic).
The 4x400M relay was third with team members Vacek, Madsen, Tolsma and Filipovic, and the 4x800M relay qualified for state with a second place finish (Dehner, Ring, Tyler Engstrom and Thompson).
Fourth place was claimed in the Medley relay by the team of Thad Roche, Thedorf, Vacek and Dehner.
