Boys’ relay team scores win at state track meet

Boys' relay team scores win at state track meet The Tanager boys' track team took fourth in the state track meet last weekend, led by first place finishes in the discus and the 4x100M relay events, scoring a total of 38 points in the 44-team competition.

Field events results for Vermillion were:

Discus � Tim Broderson, first with a toss of 167'5", and Tim Russell, sixth.

The 4x100M relay team won the Class A race with a time of 44.65 seconds. Members on the team were Derrick Brown, Jason Madsen, Dan Tolsma and Eddie Filipovic.

Filipovic also placed fifth in the 100M dash, and Madsen was sixth in the 200M dash.

Eric Dehner had a second place finish in the 3200M run in a time of 10:14.56 minutes.

The VHS girls who placed in their division were:

Kathy Plate � sixth in the 1600M run; Sarah Mollet � eighth in the shot put; Jaclyn Powell � fourth in triple jump and eighth in long jump; Nicole Pederson � seventh in the triple jump.

The team finished 23rd out of 47 schools entered.
