Obituaries Orville Gors
Orville L. Gors, 75, Vermillion, died Saturday, May 27, 2000 at his home.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Thursday at United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermillion, with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial was in BluffView Cemetery, Vermillion.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Iverson-Siecke Funeral Home, Vermillion, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
He was born Aug. 29, 1924, at rural Hooker, to Johnnie and Minnie (Wrage) Gors. He attended Turner County Rural School District 25 and graduated from Davis High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Marilyn Larson Jan. 30, 1946, at rural Beresford. They made their home in Platte where he worked for the John Deere dealership. In 1953, they moved to Bonesteel where he managed the John Deere dealership until he purchased the Standard Oil Station which he operated until 1963. They then moved to Vermillion where he operated the Coyote Standard Station from 1964-89. He retired in 1989 and worked part time at the Super Wash Car Wash, Vermillion.
He was a life-long member of the American Legion, member of the Eagle's Club and the Senior Citizens. He was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, Vermillion.
He is survived by his wife: Marilyn, Vermillion; daughters: Janet Tietgen, St. Michael, MN, Patricia Hoffman, Pierre, LeaAnne Young, Sgt. Bluff, IA; a son: John, Vermillion; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother: Wayne, Sioux Falls; and a sister: Florence Hansen, Viborg.
