Reedy announces plans to run again for Senate John "Joe" Reedy of Vermillion has announced his candidacy for re-election to the South Dakota Senate for District 17.
If elected, this would be Reedy's third term.
As state senator, Reedy, a Democrat, has served for the past four years on the Senate Agriculture, Education and Local Government committees. His goals, if re-elected, include:
* To vigorously promote the well-being and progress of all South Dakota people;
* To educate and prepare children in an atmosphere of security, gentleness and law abiding values;
* To support South Dakota's independent producers by farmer-owned processing, fair markets and research and development focused on sustainable agriculture.
Reedy is a life-long resident of South Dakota. He was in the hardware business in Vermillion for 35 years and served in the South Dakota House of Representatives for three terms beginning in 1990. He was first elected to the South Dakota Senate in 1996.
