Water rates will be discussed Vermillion's Water Department will be conducting a series of information presentations to acquaint customers with the need for a rate increase to fund major renovations of the water production and distribution systems. This issue will be before the Vermillion City Council for action at the council meeting on June 19.
The public is invited to attend either of two scheduled "Lunch and Learn" meetings to be held in the large meeting room at the Vermillion Public Library. The first presentation will be held on Tuesday, June 13 from 12:10 p.m. until 1 p.m. The second presentation will be held on Friday, June 16 at the same time. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch to eat during the presentation. Utilities Engineer Harold Holoch and City Finance Officer Mike Carlson will provide an overview of the needs of the water department and will also answer questions from the public.
The city will also present information about this issue on Cable Channel 3. Citizens may view this presentation at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 15. The presentation will also be broadcast at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, June 19.
