Yankton, Post #1 split games at Prentis Park

Yankton, Post #1 split games at Prentis Park Vermillion's Post #1 baseball team met Yankton at Prentis Park on Monday, June 19 in a double-header session which went to a 1-1 split.

The first game was tied 7-7after 6 1/2 innings and Dan Tolsma sent a ball over the fence with one out to secure the victory 8-7. Todd Anderson went the distance giving up eight hits, four walks and two strike-outs.

The line scores for Post #1 were: eight runs, 13 hits, three errors; home runs � Tyler Vacek, Adam Brooks, Todd Anderson and Tolsma.

Scoring statistics for Post #1 were: Aaron Baedke � one run, two for four hits, one RBI; Jason Madsen � one run, one for four; Brett Mockler � one RBI; Todd Anderson � two for four, two runs, one RBI; Eric Rickord � one; Tyler Vacek � one run, one for four, two RBIs; Steven Varns � one run, two for four; Dan Tolsma � one run, three for four, two RBIs; Adam Brooks � one run, one for three, one RBI; Dan Holoch � two for three hits.

The second game went to Yankton 7-5 when rain washed it out after five innings. J. May was the winning pitcher, giving up only one hit while striking out seven. He also walked five, hit a batter, and had four wild pitches, all in Vermillion's five- run third inning. Eric Holoch went 3 2/3 innings as the starter and was relieved by Dan Holoch who was charged with the loss.

Line scores: Yankton � 7 runs, six hits, no errors; Post #1 � five runs, one hit, four errors. Aaron Baedke had the only hit, a double, driving in two runs and scoring one; Jason Madsen forced in a run when he walked with the bases loaded; Tyler Vacek drove in a run on a fielder's choice play. Eric Rickord, Ryan Nelson, and Drew Lawrence each scored a run.
