CDBG funds approved

CDBG funds approved The city of Vermillion will be receiving a Community Development Block Grant totaling $125,000 to be used to help pay for the city's planned $1.2 million new fire and ambulance facility.

Gov. William Janklow informed Mayor William Radigan by letter of the grant award. The city had twice sought $200,000 in CDBG funds and failed in those attempts.

"Representative Judy Clark, in a recent letter to me, explained the importance of this project to the city of Vermillion," Janklow wrote. "As you know, funding for this type of project is limited. Dollars are scarce and requests numerous."

The CDBG grant, Janklow wrote, will supplement funds raised locally to allow the fire/ambulance facility to be completed.
