Clubs Vermillion Rotary Club

Rotarian Don McCullough reviewed a 1983 trip he took with his wife, Betty, to the Indian subcontinent as his program for fellow Rotary members at the club's weekly meeting Tuesday at the Silver Dollar. McCullough illustrated his presentation with slides, snapshots and several artifacts they collected while abroad.

During their 30-day trip the McCulloughs visited India, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan with a special tour group consisting of persons interested in foreign research. In addition, they visited Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon) on their own.

One of the highlights of their trip was a chance to meet then Prime Minister Indira Ghandi for a discussion of US-India relations. They also had the opportunity to see the Taj Mahal, the Tibetan capital of Lhasa and dozens of other landmarks in that part of the world.

A Rotary guest Tuesday was Tim Wallum, formerly of Huron and now living in Maryland.

Senior Citizens Center

On Wednesday, July 19, 37 attended the Senior Citizens Center for the card party. Fourteen played pitch, four pinochle and 19 bridge. It was a lovely, cool summer day with low humidity and everyone enjoyed that.

Bridge prizes went to Adeline Isaacson, high; Marlys Miller, second; Louella Matson, third; Margaret Waltner, blind bogey and low went to Lois Erickson.

Hostesses were Leone Christopherson, Marge Rasmussen and Peg and Fran Mollet.

Cleo Wade will be missed, for she loved to play skip-bo.

Country Gals 4-H Club

The Country Gals met April 10 at 7 p.m. at the 4-H center. The meeting was called to order by President Leslie Larson. Angela Rydell led the flag pledges.

There were no junior leader projects or demonstrations this month.

For April's Community Service Project, all the members brought something from home to put into an Easter basket for a needy family. We also made May baskets, which were filled with candy, for the firemen. Some of our members also volunteered for the SESDAC dinner.
