Korte receives $2,000 scholarship Kendra Korte of Vermillion was recently awarded a $2,000 Member Scholarship from Lutheran Brotherhood. Korte plans to attend Luther College in Decorah, IA, this fall.
Member Scholarships are awarded to selected undergraduate students who are Lutheran Brotherhood members. Recipient selection is based on acedemic excellence, church and community involvement and leadership. Korte was one of 910 recipients selected from 3,500 applicants for this national award. In 1999, Lutheran Brotherhood provided $4 million in support to students through its Member Scholarship program. That amount includes $3.5 million awarded to students who were renewing their Member Scholarship for a second, third or fourth year.
Korte is a member of Southeast South Dakota Branch, one of Lutheran Brotherhood's 997 member-volunteer groups organized for fellowship and community service. Douglas L. Verley is the Lutheran Brotherhood district representative serving the local branch as fraternal branch consultant.
