4-H livestock champions at State Fair announced The 4-H grand and reserve champions in market beef, swine and sheep at the South Dakota State Fair have been announced by the S.D. State 4-H Office at South Dakota State University.
Grand champion market sheep was shown by Jordan Nothdurft of Sioux City, and reserve champion by Nancy Heine of Vermillion.
Sasha Yackley of Onida exhibited the grand champion market beef. The reserve champion was shown by Blake Yackley, also of Onida.
Market swine grand champion was shown by Kenny Hostler of Mount Vernon, and reserve champion by Katie Wirt of Parker.
Sasha Yackley received $250 and Blake Yackley received $150, both from the State Fair Commission. Each also received a plaque from the S.D. Association of Fairs and Celebrations.
Hostler and Wirt received $150 and $100, respectively, plus plaques, from the State Fair Commission for exhibiting their champion swine.
In the market sheep division, Northdurft earned $150 cash and Heine $100 from the fair commission, and also plaques from the S.D. Sheep Growers Association.
