Canoe trip celebrates Lewis & Clark event Aug. 26 in Vermillion As part of Vermillion's celebration of the Lewis and Clark expedition, members of the South Dakota Canoe Association and the Living River Group of the Sierra Club will paddle the Missouri River, weather permitting, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26.
The trip will begin at the Highline Landing (also known as Myron Grove) and continue to Clay County Park. The public is invited to join in the cruise. Participants must bring their own canoes, life jackets and paddles, and are responsible for their own safety.
The journey will take a little longer than two hours, with a stop at Goat Island. At Clay County Park, participants who register on or before Friday will receive a free pasta lunch and a shuttle back to pick up their cars at the Highline Landing.
