Golfer has championship summer

Golfer has championship summer Allison Stewart, daughter of Chuck and Noreen Stewart, a 15-year-old sophomore at Vermillion High School, has enjoyed a fantastic summer of competitive golf.

A member of the Tanager girls' golf team as a freshman last year, Stewart was an integral participant as she qualified for the state tournament last spring. Her successes in high school competition gave her the desire to continue playing in any tournaments available to her during the summer and what a summer it has been!

Entering the KELO/Parline Junior Golf Tournaments, she placed first in her age group at: Lakeview in Mitchell; Brookings Country Club; Hillcrest Country Club in Yankton; and Brandon Valley Golf Course in Brandon. She then won the Tournament of Champions at the Brookings Country Club in a three-way tie eight-hole playoff.

Stewart also won her age group at the "Soda Pop Open" at Hillcrest. To top off the summer's golf programs, Stewart placed first in the South Dakota Golf Association Junior Championship at Fox Run Golf Course in Yankton.

With the South Dakota High School Activities Association golf programs having the "A" boys in the fall and "A" girls in the spring, we have a long winter to contemplate what is in store for Stewart next year.
