Cross-country teams run at Yankton Invitational Schools represented at the Yankton cross-country invitational meet on Thursday, Sept. 21 included Bon Homme, Sioux Falls Lincoln, Norfolk (NE), and Vermillion with Yankton as the host team.
There was competition in both girls' and boys' varsity, girls' JV divisions, freshman-sophomore boys and middle school girls and boys.
Team points for the boys' varsity division were: Yankton 39; Norfolk 46; Vermillion 71; and Lincoln 75. There were 35 entries in the division.
First runner across the finish line was Vermillion's Eric Dehner with a time of 16:47. Other Tanager finishers were: Darryl Neufield � ninth; Ben Parsons � 16th; Dan Ring � 21st; and Josh Kyte � 24th.
For the varsity girls, team points were: Lincoln 24,Vermillion 57, Yankton 63, and Norfolk 80.
Tanager placers were: Angie Rydell � third; Michelle Rasmussen � sixth; Morgan Brooks � 11th; Beth Pier � 19th; Theresa Ring � 22nd; Nicki Mollet � 29th; Emily Pier � 31st; and Carly Bernard 34th. There were 42 runners in the girls' section (including the JV division).
In the freshman-sophomore boys' division there were 21 entries with Vermillion running an incomplete team. Tyler Brown was first, Justin Manning ninth and Mitch Bierle � 15th.
Danny Redlin was the only VMS boys' entrant and placed seventh out of 20 runners. The VMS girls entered were Katie Dehner and Sarah Plate who finished fourth and fifth, respectively, out of 17 runners.
