First half disastrous for Tanager JV team by Jim Prosser The Vermillion Tanagers were defeated by the Wagner Red Raiders 50-27 in girls basketball Sept. 7 at home after being buried by a disastrous first half.
�Turnovers plagued us,� said Tanager JV Coach Troy Terronez. �We have to keep possession of the ball, and we must make good passes into the post.�
The Tanagers fell behind 23-10 after the opening period, trailed 37-16 after the second quarter, and then trailed 43-21 after the third period.
The Tanager JV saw its record fall to 1-4, while the Wagner junior varsity upped its mark to 3-0.
The Tanager JV sank 5 of 11 from the line while the Red Raiders made 4 of 10 free throw attempts.
