Girls' tennis team loses match to Brandon Valley Coach Barb Rickord found a young, determined Brandon Valley girls' tennis team when she took the Vermillion High School team to Brandon for a dual match on Monday, Sept. 18.
"Brandon Valley was stronger than we expected," she said. "They have a young team and a program that is getting better. Hopefully, these losses will make us better too."
The home team won with a convincing 7-2 final score.
Singles: Maya Ristic (V) def. Abby Erickson 10-4; Lindsay Iverson (V) def. Kelly Bariak 10-4; Kelly Larson (BV) def. Tori Collins 10-3; Marnie Graham (BV) def. Catherine Odson (V) 10-1; Mandy Bonander (BV) def. Jessica Leffers 10-4; and Hillary Green (BV) def. Elizabeth Slagle 10-0.
Doubles: Erickson/Bariak (BV) def. Ristic/Iverson 11-9; Bonander/Katy Bly (BV) def. Collins/Odson 10-3; Graham/Crystal Selchert (BV) def. Leffers/Slagle 10-4.
In JV doubles the Tanager pair, Cecile Kilghs/Deanna Russell defeated Erin Knutson/Jamie Vermeer (BV) 8-6.
